Have an interest in health, do you care about animal welfare or do you find the environment important? Yes, all of the above may apply to some. you can also choose ‘all of the above’ These documentaries are a great watch if you are interested in any of these. I started looking for health related documentaries before I was diagnosed with Hashimotos in 2012. I was so tired, feeling so sluggish and the brain fog in my head was getting to me. These documentaries made me realise that your health starts with what you put into your body. Below you can find a list of documentaries that I have watched multiple times over the last 2 years and they have inspired me and brought me a lot of knowledge and new insights.

Cowspiray is the documentary that ‘turned’ me vegan. Did you know that one hamburger alone is equal to two months of showering? What you put in your body makes a huge impact on the world and the choices you make DOES make a difference! With my one year vegan anniversary coming up I have already save around 1,000 m2, 1.5 million litre of water and 3,300 kg of C02. I dare you to watch this documentary and rethink about the choices you are making daily and with that making more conscious choices.

Forks over knives perfectly illustrates how the food choices you make have a great impact on your health. Forks over Knives is factbased and very informative, and for me.. life changing. I never looked at food the same again after watching this documentary and I have watched it several times actually. Really recommend this documentary if you want to gain more knowledge about feeding your body with the nutrition it needs.

So Cowspiracy is a documentary focussed on the environment, Forks over Knives is about your health, Food Inc exposes the truth about what we are eating daily and how the industrialisation of our food impacts not only the animals that end up on our plate, but it also affects us. Our food has changed dramatically over the last 60 years and the food we eat is produced by multinationals. Everything produced needs to be cheaper and we are now paying the price. Food Inc gives an insight into the sick developments of the food available today.

If slaughterhouses, dairy and egg factories had glass walls you would see exactly what this documentary shows you. It is absolutely devastating to watch, even if you are not able to watch through the whole movie. I have seen 10 minutes and couldn’t watch more than that. That to me says enough, if you are not able to watch and see what happens to the animals on you plate than you shouldn’t eat them. I am happy that I made the choice to go vegan almost one year ago, I feel liberated! In this year I have already saved the lives of around 350 animals! The choices you make every day have such a huge impact on these animals, per day in the Netherlands alone there are more than 1 million animals killed, thats a freaking mass slaughter of 365 MILLION animals per year! If every person in the Netherlands alone went vegan for one day a week the lives of 93 million animals could be saved a year. That’s a huge number!

GMO OMG

GMO OMG perfectly illustrates the sick world of seeds, genetically modified seeds that is. Currently in Europe we (thank God!) don’t have much genetically modified products in our food, 18 countries in Europe have actually banned one or more GMO crops and in most countries GMO needs to be labelled. But with the TTIP this could change and multinationals such as Monsanto could operate in Europe as well. I am confident that after you watch this documentary you want to sign this petition (for Dutchies).

Queen of The Sun: What are bees telling us

So I have never known anything about bees, how important they are and how endangered they are before watching this movie. I found this movie very interesting, don’t know how I found it but glad I did. Whenever I am a real grown up, with a nice garden with loads of flowers I want to have a bee hive. Jup, also life changing!
